Excavating Conflict explores my complex connection to Israel/Palestine. The impact this work is meant to have on the viewer is the same as when I, the artist, look at Israel/Palestine: disorientation. Each material in this piece conveys a double meaning, as two maps of Israel/Palestine are depicted here as one; the factual topographic image of the land, and the private, personal picture I hold of this land in my mind. Incorporating materials that engage topics of home, land ownership, food politics and cultural identity, allows me to depict a personalized landscape.
